Meet Dr. Dwaneti A. Brooks, EdD, BCBA, NYSLBA
Dr. Dwanētí A. Brooks, EdD, BCBA, NYSLBA; also known as “the child whisper” by those close to her. Whether it be the way she organizes and utilizes her materials or how she speaks with children, they seek to accomplish the tasks presented to them. Dr. Brooks has 16 years of experience in working with differently abled children. She has been a behavior therapist in New York City for 8 years, working with families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Before becoming a behavior therapist, she taught early childhood education. As a behavioral therapist she is able to identify the needs of her clients and formulate treatment plans in collaboration with their family members or other care providers to manage problematic behaviors and determine how to best address long-term individual goals. Dr. Brooks has a MAEd in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix; a MSEd in Early Childhood (Birth-K)/ Childhood (grades 1-6)/ Special Education (birth - grade 6) from Mercy College; an EdD in Educational Leadership/Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix and a BCBA certification from Touro College. Being the only child of parents who highly valued faith, education and enhancing others those values became her core values. Her affinity to help children who struggle to succeed academically, socially and emotionally led her to utilize her BCBA as an empowerment tool. Driven by the quote "education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world" (Nelson Mandela), Dr. Brooks believes when children are engaged in programs that help mold them and their families, they WILL be empowered to succeed!
